The ferry relay
Two drivers, one smooth trip.
Your car doesn't cross on the ferry, which keeps the price lower: one driver takes you to the pier, you cross on the passenger ferry, and a second driver waits on the other side. About 4–4.5 hours in all, depending on the ferry and traffic.

To Cai Vieng Pier, tickets bought
About 30–45 minutes to the pier. Your driver buys the passenger ferry tickets; hand them to the ferry staff and board. Waiting for the ferry can take up to 60 minutes.
Across on the ferry
A 15–20 minute crossing to Dong Bai Pier on the mainland. You carry your own luggage on board.
Driver 2 takes you to Hanoi
Waiting at Dong Bai Pier with a name sign, then about 2.5 hours to Noi Bai departures or your hotel in central Hanoi. Going to Cat Ba? The same relay, the other way round.

- Times can change, especially in peak season; both drivers get the updates on the day

Before you travel
- After booking, send us your Cat Ba hotel name and address, your drop-off (Noi Bai Airport or your Hanoi hotel) and your flight number and time if you're flying. We work out your pick-up time from there.
- Driver 1 buys your passenger ferry tickets. At the pier, hand them to the ferry staff and board. Driver 2 waits with a name sign at Dong Bai Pier on the mainland.
- This is a two-driver relay: your car does not cross on the ferry, which keeps the price lower. You carry your own luggage onto the ferry.
- Ferries Cai Vieng → Dong Bai run 05:00–18:00 in low season and 04:30–19:00 in high season, every 30–60 minutes. Times can change a little in high season.
- One standard suitcase per traveller. Large backpacks or oversized luggage must be confirmed in advance, since you carry it onto the ferry yourself.
- We don't provide baby or child seats, so please bring your own if you need one.
